File properties refer to the permissions managed for each file uploaded to the data room. In ENVE, these properties include download permission and watermarking. As an administrator on the seller side, you can control on a per-file basis whether users in the data room can download the file or not, and whether the file should be watermarked or not.
During the creation of a data room, you have the option to set default settings for whether all future uploaded files should be downloadable and/or watermarked by default.
After the data room has been created, administrators on the seller side can find these settings either via the Files page by clicking on the gear icon to the right of the search bar (image 1) or through the Data Room Settings (image 2).
By enabling "Download settings for future file uploads" and "Watermark settings for future file uploads," all files uploaded from the moment these settings are turned on will be downloadable for all users in the data room and be watermarked in the data room. If these settings are turned off, the opposite applies, and permissions must be set per file as needed. Changes to these settings will not affect the properties of files that have already been uploaded to the data room.
To manage file properties per file (image 3), you can easily access the interface through the methods shown in one of the images above. Here, you can also control the settings for future uploads at the data room level.
There are two ways to manage file properties:
(I) Change for all files The top row in the list of all files in the data room provides the option to enable or disable downloading and watermarking for all files that you have access to in the data room.
(II) Change per individual file You can also scroll through the list of files and enable or disable properties for each individual file. This can be useful if you generally want the opposing party to be able to download files, except for a few selected ones.
